I knew Dave through working with him as a volunteer at Ness Gardens. He met me on my first day and very quickly coerced me - as only Dave could - into working full days instead of a half. Dave was a breath of fresh air to work alongside. He was knowledgeable and a very funny man with his inquisitive mind often running off at the most bizarre and entertaining tangents. I have good memories of working alongside Dave and learning from him as I went and I was saddened to know that that bank of memories will not be added to further. My lasting memory of Dave will be of him striding through the wilderness at Ness with his woolly hat on his head and his rucksack on his back; a smile on his face as he went off to negotiate the price of a scone at the cafe!
