I first met David about 6 years ago when I joined the volunteer group at Dibbinsdale Local Nature Reserve. David was a fellow volunteer and as I got to know him I became more and more impressed by the range of his activities, interests and projects. He later encouraged me to join the group at Eastham Country Park. We spent many enjoyable times at these sites, always finding time for a chat about all manner of things. I was deeply sorry to hear the news of his passing, and I will miss him and think of him, particularly when I return to the places we enjoyed working together. Mike Thorpe
